» Sights to visit in Oslo ...

If you plan to include a visit to Norway in your holidays, Oslo – the capital have to be on top of your list. Even if this North European country is famous for its wonderful landscape, Oslo, a modern city with an old history shows a different face of Norway, as a global city ranked as number one with regard on life quality.

Many of the touristic interest points of Oslo are close to downtown and often in the rural surrounding areas, being easy accessible by public means of transportation. Some of them are so closely situated each other so they can be visited in the same day.

Art lovers can admire the paintings of Edvard Munch at Munch-museet and a special collection of art works made by children in Barnekunstmuseum.

Visiting places like Holmenkollen, Sorkedalen and Kjelsas with their forests, lakes and wild animals you will understand why Norwegians appreciate so much the nature.

In summer there is always nearby a swimming place and in winter a lot of slopes and ski places.

Vigelandsparken, the largest park in Oslo, was named after Gustav Vigeland that created the 212 statues representing the humanity in all its forms. His works are exhibited along the central axis of the park.

The central point is the Monolit placed on a stepped base surrounded by statuary groups.

Vigeland made the argyle models of his works in natural size but the stone sculpture and the cast in bronze were completed by other artists. The sculptures, green areas and the architecture combine in a landscape that takes your breath.

Many of Gustav Vigeland works can be admired in Vigelandsmuseet placed next to the park. This museum was founded based on a contract concluded between the artist and Oslo mayoralty in 1921. According to the contract, the artist donated to the city all his existent and future works and the mayoralty built him a workshop that was to become a museum.

Built in 1920, the workshop, transformed later in museum, is considered one of the most brilliant example of Norwegian neoclassicism.

Today the artist collection includes 2700 gypsum, bronze, granite and marble sculptures, 1200 drawings and approximately 400 of wooden sculptures and forms. In the museum there are exhibited too the original models of sculptures of Vigeland Park and the moulds for busts and other monuments. The park construction is presented in pictures that are also exhibited inside the museum.

Oslo Bymuseum is housed by an old mansion very well preserved from XVIII century. This museum is dedicated to the city history.

The models, room’s interiors, paintings, sculptures, paintings and the other exhibits evoke the city development and its commercial and cultural life. We hope that our associates' offers will suit perfectly with your plans.
